Where Rivers Meet Anew: A Silent Retreat with Two MBSR Pioneers

  • Hermann-Lietz-Str. 13, D-36132 Eiterfeld - Buchenau (map)

This retreat is a special gathering that brings together some of the most experienced and distinguished MBSR teachers associated with the Center for Mindfulness in the U.S. A third teacher, Saki Santorelli unfortunately needed to cancel his participation this time. All three teachers have helped shape the mindfulness movement from the very beginning by emphasizing both the fundamental healing powers of mindfulness and its inherent ethical qualities of kindness, benevolence and non-harm in the world.

Together, as a small community rooted in seven days of silent practice and teacher talks, we will explore the universal qualities of mindfulness, as well as their expression in our personal lives, common humanity and stewardship of our Earth. Grounded in the spirit of benevolence, kindness, warmth and curiosity, this silent retreat will include practices of sitting and walking meditation, mindful movement and yoga, and meetings with the retreat teachers. Emphasis will be placed on the intimate lived experience of body, mind and heart, and what that can mean for clarity, insight and even courage.

This retreat is suitable for all those who seek to dwell in silence and kind awareness, we hope it may provide support and depth for those teaching or aspiring to teach MBSR or other mindfulness-based programs (MBPs) in a variety of institutional and social settings. The Retreat fulfills one of the silent-retreat requirements for MBSR/MBP-teacher training.
